Manual: countdown for the opening night

Manual: countdown for the opening night

The performance A Manual on Work and Happiness opens on Friday March 16 at the Apollo Theatre, in the city of Patras (Greece).

Portuguese company mala voadora is directing this play written by Spanish author Pablo Gisbert, which stars Greek actor Markos Gettos and a group of citizens from Patras who took part in a 3-week artistic residency with director Jorge Andrade.

With this residency, the Municipal and Regional Theatre of Patras tried to reach non-regular audiences and people who had never performed before. A local call was launched in January.

The background of the non-professional cast is quite diverse: different ages, genres and professions. For three weeks, they carried on with their daily jobs and rehearsed intensely in the evening with the team of mala voadora and actor Markos Gettos to set up a play which is now being presented to their community.

Some students from the Department of Theatre Studies of Patras University also followed the creative process as part of their learning activities.
